Kirsten and Ian invited all their family and closest friends to witness their vows at a beautiful property near Owen Sound, Ontario. The massive cottage was full of busy bees, decorating cakes, prepping flowers, makeup brushes were flying around the bridesmaids and colourful socks were being dawned by groomsmen. Kirsten and Ian were getting ready just 1 room apart and without seeing one another would shout “I love you!” from room to room until it was time for their first look. After which we headed straight out to explore the woods around the cottage. As we were beginning the photo session, Kirsten turned to me and she said “we LOVE to smile. Can we smile really big in all the photos?!” hahah I thought this was the cutest thing I’d ever heard a bride say. So of course, I told them I wouldn’t expect anything less. We had a blast including all their bridal party and honourary friends in loads of group photos, as well as their 15 year old pup!
Now, after the ceremony, what happened next was something that is now probably one of my most favourite things I’ve seen at a wedding… Kirsten and Ian asked everyone, not just bridal party, not just family, but all 106 people from the wedding so crowd around, get real close and grab a champagne bottle that was coming around. They handed out countless bottles of champagne! We got everyone shaking them up at the same time and within a few seconds the sounds of corks popping began, and then came the spray! With the sun perfectly setting behind them, the spray was illuminated as everyone squealed & laughed and I slowly began to soak in the champagne that was sprayed my way.
A few more quick portraits during the last of the setting sun and then everyone was into the tent for hilarious & heartfelt speeches, a taco & pasta station, and then what I can only imagine was an epic dance party into the night!
Kirsten & Ian, thank you for having me, and showing me the best time at a wedding!
