Berkeley Fieldhouse Wedding - Leanne + Brett

Downtown Toronto Wedding - Jennifer See Studios

I’m coming at you with another resilient couple who planned a wedding during COVID times but this time we’re in my own backyard – a downtown Toronto wedding at Berkeley Fieldhouse. Leanne and Brett were a lovely couple that I originally met long before we'd even heard of COVID. Back when we were meeting couples for a coffee or a cocktail instead of through computer screens. Shortly after our meeting, Brett got a job in Singapore (HOW COOL, RIGHT?!) and unfortunately with the hit of the pandemic, I wouldn’t see these two for a couple years.

Fast forward to their wedding day in the Fall of 2021, it was like nothing had changed! We had a blast running around the city with their wedding party of six, snuggling into the nooks and crannies of the city streets.

Leanne and Brett had personal touches that made the day their own – my personal favourite was their guestbook of postcards from different cities. Inspired by their love of travel and adventure!

Capturing Leanne and Brett's day was one of those days that just felt easy; there was no stress or running around on tight schedules. Being with them and their families/friends just felt comfortable! Since the bride and groom had been away for so long, it was so moving to see them celebrating with all their friends and family. There were a lot of emotions flowing through the room, especially during the speeches.

Everything went off without a hitch for Leanne and Brett and luckily with their wedding before the lockdown in December, the couples and their party guests were able to dance and celebrate into the early morning at the Berkeley Fieldhouse.

What was your favourite part of the day?!

It's so hard to choose! The whole day was amazing and every moment was so special. A few of our favourites - sharing a moment just the two of us after the ceremony. We went to the treehouse, popped some champagne and celebrated that we were finally married. It was a perfect moment. We also loved the ceremony - it was intimate, beautiful and a lot of fun! I thought I would be nervous but I felt so calm standing up there with Brett as we said our vows to each other. We also loved seeing everyone having so much fun, laughing and dancing the night away!

You had to postpone the wedding because of covid and travel restrictions while also living abroad, how special was it for you both once you were finally able to celebrate with your closest people?

Planning a wedding while living abroad and during a pandemic was challenging but we always had the support of our friends and family and it meant the world to us. It was so incredible to finally celebrate our special day with everyone. We were surrounded by so much love and happiness and to have all of our friends and family together was truly amazing.

What made you choose Berkeley Fieldhouse?

We couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. We love that it's a quiet escape located in the city but somehow feels like you're outside of it. It has so many unique features like the treehouse, outdoor garden and patio. It was perfect for our fun, romantic and intimate wedding.
