Julien + Dimitri's classy black tie celebration!

There’s nothing like a black-tie wedding at Toronto's Globe and Mail Centre to officially kick off the wedding season. Julien, Dimitri, their beautiful baby daughter, Rose and 200 of their closest friends and family were the biggest wedding I’ve shot since before COVID and it truly gave me ALL the feels.

Two months before Julien and Dimitri’s wedding date, I was introduced to them by their wedding planner, Trevor of Trevents. It was a quick turnaround, but I felt so lucky to have been asked to be a part of this gorgeous wedding celebration.

We started their day outside The Broadview Hotel, a classic Toronto landmark. Julien is an architect and wanted to capture some of their more private moments outside some of his favourite architectural buildings in the city. Following The Broadview, we went further into the city to the TD Bank Tower (where a lot of iconic films and television shows have been filmed – if you didn’t know!) and posed for some beautiful candid moments, both inside and outside the building. The Financial District is rather quiet on the weekend, so we felt quite secluded. I thought it was so fun to play around with the light, shadows and lines of the buildings.

We made our way back to The Globe and Mail Centre where the boys were greeted by their two best friends and their baby girl, Rose. Julien and Dimitri each had one of their best friends stand beside them at the altar as their friends and family watched as they exchanged their vows.

The grooms opted for candles over florals, which cascaded a beautiful ambience throughout the room and added such a magical accompaniment to the city skyline. Custom monogrammed pendant signs hung from the ceiling, giving this royal-type feel which I thought was so cool.

Heartfelt speeches were given, and the guests enjoyed an incredible meal provided by The Food Dudes. After dinner, guests were invited to the dancefloor where bongos and violins kicked off the dance party. The night also included classic Greek music and dancing to honour Dimitri’s background.

This wedding was the perfect way to kick off the 2022 season. Words cannot explain how fantastic it feels to shoot my couples surrounded by their loved ones, dancing and celebrating with joy again. Looking forward to a very bright future.

What made you choose the Globe and Mail Centre?

We wanted a wedding venue with a view, and we think that The Globe and Mail Centre is the most beautiful venue in the city. The chic decor and the golden glow of candles complemented the contemporary vibe of the space and were the perfect finishing touches. The spectacular view of the city at sunset during the reception was our most memorable moment.
