Lake Huron Elopement – Samantha + Mac

Beachside Lake Huron elopement

Samantha and Mac reached out to me just a month before their Lake Huron elopement took place. When Samantha initially wrote me she said that her and Mac were interested in doing a mini elopement styled shoot up at Mac's family cottage. They just wanted some beautiful images of them in their nice wedding attire along the beach with their two puppies. While speaking with Samantha on the phone about her plans for the shoot I said "well do you guys just want to elope and actually get married?" she said "YES! But we don't know how to pull that off in just a few weeks". So I told her to leave it up to me and I would source some vendors local to the Grand Bend and Kincardine area to make this happen for them! What followed over the coming weeks was some brainstorming with Sarah from The Little Shed Flower Company on how we coud pull off a "beachy modern" elopement on the shores of Lake Huron, and finding an officiant that suited the style of the couple.

Fast forward to the day of, it had called for rain, but so far was Mother Nature was holding off for us. I arrived at a gorgeous 100 year old cabin just outside Kincardine where Samantha and Mac were drinking coffee and hanging with their pups inside in front of the fire. We captured this laid back morning vibe before the two took to separate parts of the cabin to get dressed. Mac's reaction to seeing his bride for the first time in her stunning Luna Willow Bridal gown was priceless! What followed was a perfect little ceremony on the beach with dramatic skies over the lake. The ceremony was officiated by Suzanne Myers with Coco & Betty (the pups) close by, their vows were heartfelt and brought tears to everyone's eyes. Sarah and I witnessed and signed for them, and then captured them popping some celebratory champagne on the beach!

This was my first go at planning out an elopement and I must say, it was a blast being creative in a different way and coming up with different ideas with Sarah for the design! I'm so grateful to have met these two, spent a day with them capturing memories to add to their favourite place! Congratulations Samantha and Mac! <3

Meet the couple

Would you recommend eloping to others?

"We would both recommend eloping!! It was so intimate and romantic. We really got to focus on each other instead on worrying about details. It was stress free and honestly part of the magic was having these complete strangers (I mean that in the best way) be so genuinely excited and supportive of our marriage! The whole thing was more than We even could have dreamed and I truly mean that."

What was your favourite part of the day?!

Mac: "the photos on the cabin steps because we were just having fun, the vows and the beach party after the ceremony with champagne!"

Samantha: "definitely the vows and the moment right after. Everything sort of melted away and that moment was so surreal. Although I highly enjoyed the beach party and champagne as well!"
